club members – the No. 1 in the region

#immerdabei – in the heart of Ostwestfalen

DSC Arminia Bielefeld was founded on May 3, 1905 as the 1st Bielefeld Football Club Arminia, followed by the first Westphalian championship in 1913. And even back then, Arminia had the support of the fans: sometimes up to 8,000 Arminians followed the away games, although it was not unusual for it to take two to three days to get there or back. Compared to today, it is clear to see what an enormous significance Arminia already had back then, as other clubs were still in their infancy at the time in terms of popularity and traveling supporters.

Today, the club thrives on loyal fans, strong support in the region and the certainty that with Arminia, it never gets boring.

GET INVOLVED & BENEFIT

Sustainability and social responsibility

The path to the stadium not only leads along the houses in the west, but also symbolizes the club's close ties with the fans, the residents of the city of Bielefeld and the region.

Today, first-class youth development is an elementary component of successful soccer clubs. DSC Arminia Bielefeld also attaches immense importance to the training of talented players. The academy pursues two fundamental goals in line with a holistic education and in accordance with the club's mission and vision: To provide high-quality sports training and to fulfill its educational mission.

DSC Arminia Bielefeld inspires the residents of the region with values such as community, participation and team spirit, which are shared by both the team and the fans. The club lives these values not only in sport, but also in social and community projects that promote topics such as integration, inclusion, health and education. Sustainability is central to meeting current needs and offering future generations the same opportunities.

“Nobody is conquering the Teutoburg Forest” is what the stadium announcer says at every home game. To keep it that way, DSC Arminia Bielefeld is helping to reforest the forest - because according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, this is the most effective solution to combat global warming caused by CO2 emissions. The tree planting campaign “(D)A tree for the Teutoburg Forest”, in which fans, partners, sponsors, employees, the presidium, the management and Arminia professionals took part, has so far resulted in more than 20,000 new trees in the “Teuto”.

The club resolutely opposes discriminatory, anti-constitutional and xenophobic efforts as well as any positions of inhuman worldviews and group-related misanthropy. DSC Arminia Bielefeld is committed to the values of variety, tolerance and diversity and has joined the “Alliance against the Right” and is a supporter of the Bielefeld Action Weeks against Racism.

With the “Sichere Burg” (safe castle), a concept for action was created in the 2021/22 season to provide a contact point for all persons affected by discriminatory behaviour or (sexualized) violence at DSC Arminia Bielefeld home matches.

Since 2018, there has been a cooperation between the Wewelsburg Nazi Memorial, DSC Arminia Bielefeld, the ASC Supporters and the Bielefeld Fan Project: Julius Hesse AG.

Julius Hesse was president of Arminia Bielefeld from 1909-1914 and saved the club during its first existential crisis. 20 years later, German sport was brought into line by the Nazis and Karl Demberg, an up-and-coming lawyer and NSDAP member, was appointed “club leader”. Jewish members were excluded, Julius Hesse was a member of the Jewish community and was murdered in the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1944.

On May 31, 2021, Julius Hesse Square was established as a memorial site behind the west stand of the Schüco Arena. Regular tours take place under the motto “Searching for traces - Arminia Bielefeld and National Socialism”.

With over 400 seats for people with disabilities, DSC Arminia Bielefeld is a pioneer in the region. Since the 2005/2006 season, the club has also offered a radio programme for the visually impaired. A first in football in Germany is the autistic box for five people plus an accompanying person with an adjoining snooze room in case of sensory overload. Equally unique in Germany is the ‘Quiet Hour’ in the fan shop for people with sensory processing disorders.

The Arminienschmiede has been an inclusive fan club since 2004, which meets in the ‘Neue Schmiede’ for football broadcasts, regular get-togethers and regular fan evenings as well as accompanying the Bielefeld training camp.

Since the 2024/25 season, DSC Arminia Bielefeld has been advertising the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel on its shirt sleeves - an absolute figurehead for the city and one of the largest diaconal institutions in Europe. The proceeds from all Bethel logos on the sleeves of the jerseys purchased will be donated to the v. Bodelschwinghschen Stiftungen Bethel at the end of the season.

Schüco and DSC Arminia Bielefeld are more than just long-standing partners. We are united by our home of Bielefeld, the Ostwestfalen will to persevere and the great team spirit. We believe in the strength of the team and are grateful for the passion of the fans. Together with DSC Arminia Bielefeld, we want to and will continue to experience exciting sporting moments and celebrate successes in the coming years.
